The robotic engineering center of the St. Petersburg Physico-Mathematical Lyceum 30 was founded fairly recently, in the beginning of 2011. However, we have already reached top marks both on the city and country levels. In our center the students get acquainted with the basis of the design of different machines and devices, they learn to choose the most durable and steady designs, learn which algorithms help control different functions of the machines, obtain skills of remote control and programming of the robots, make prototypes of electric circuits and create transducers. Some of them work on their own engineering projects.
We visit different festivals and conferences regularly, both in St. Petersburg and in different cities and countries. Our achievements include the diplomas of the city-level, country-level and international competitions and contests. In 2015, our robotics center became the resource center of the Robotics program and Intel’s STEM center. Together with Finist charity foundation we have organized robotics contest Testing Area PML 30 for two years in a row. More than 30 teams take part in the contest, including participants from St. Petersburg and Leningrad District, Lipetsk and Novgorod.
We take new students in twice a year, in September and in January
Every year our center expands, the number of interesting courses and talented students and teachers grows. We aspire to cover more topical subjects, to dig deeper where everything seems clear. Our main goal is to graduate students that really know and love what they do, real specialists in engineering and robotics. The skills and abilities that they have after finishing the course allow them to consciously choose a university, enroll successfully and find employment later.
The teachers of our center are the alumni of the Lyceum and have a lot of experience with working with children. The course is free of charge. Moreover, the students get an opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge they got at school into practice, to develop out-of-the-box thinking, to learn to work in team and also to travel to different cities in Russia, Europe and the world, to meet their peers from different cities and countries, to establish contacts and to share experience.
